Dr. Van Gieson is a director in economics, specializing in industrial organization, econometrics, and statistics. He has managed and supported expert work in calculating damages in numerous litigation cases, primarily involving antitrust and false advertising.
Dr. Van Gieson was involved in the recent LCD-TFT, DRAM, and air cargo antitrust actions in the U.S. He has prepared and supervised class certification and damages analyses in a variety of industries, including air and marine cargo, freight forwarders, marine engines, transparent tape, livestock feed, bauxite, parcel tankers, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, office supplies, beer and liquor distribution, dog food, fast food restaurants, semiconductors, and tobacco. He has also assisted in the preparation of economic assessments of the competitive impacts of mergers such as in the Office Depot – Staples, H&R Block-Tax Act, and Luxottica-Cole National merger cases. Dr. Van Gieson has also supported expert work in false advertising claims cases involving food retailers and consumer durables.
Prior to joining Navigant, Dr. Van Gieson was a principal at MiCRA Inc for 18 years.
