Thomas Thompson is a director in the global Construction practice, bringing 36 years’ experience covering project management and advisory services for contracts development, operations management, financial reporting, risk management analysis, and controls implementation.
Tom’s expertise includes contract liability and entitlement identification, change management, cost and schedule integration, risk identification, and strategic mitigation systems. His experience covers the entire project life cycle from inception, bidding, contract and subcontract strategy, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Tom’s hands-on construction management experience includes delivering projects in the engineering and construction business in the U.S. and internationally for refining, LNG, chemical, on and offshore oil and gas developments, and pipeline projects and related infrastructure.
Tom has developed and implemented project and portfolio commercial risk management programs. He has worked with corporate executives, outside counsel, and client personnel through negotiations for significant construction contracts, claims, and additional compensation requests including project deviation, change management, delay and disruption, arbitration, and litigation support including witness preparation for ICC and UNCITRAL Arbitration Forums and litigation.
Prior to joining Navigant, Tom was senior vice president of operations and served as managing director for the company’s engineering, procurement, and construction management joint venture operations in the Middle East for an ENR top-ranked engineering and construction company. He also served as vice president of business development oversight for all business units, director of corporate risk assessment, commercial director in Brazil, and operation’s manager in Venezuela and Japan for large scale EPC undertakings.
