Matthias Spoettle, Dipl.-Pol., has 12 years of experience in international project development and project management, of which 9 years as project leader of international teams. He has gained in-depth experience in international development cooperation, working for several international consultancies before he started to work as a freelancer within the field of sustainability and renewable energy.
Currently, Matthias is dealing with sustainable sourcing of biomass for energy and material use, thereby assessing direct and indirect effects. He has in-depth knowledge on ILUC and ILUC mitigation. Matthias was task leader for the testing the ILUC mitigation option for rapeseed yield increase in the EU. He was a responsible author of the potential assessment of waste and residues for bioenergy purposes in the EU conducted for the German, Dutch and Danish government. Furthermore Matthias is working on decarbonizing the transport sector, with a special focus on biofuels and e-mobility in road transport but also alternative aviation fuels. He was also leading a project for the European Parliament on identification of challenges for recharging infrastructure in the EU and development of policy recommendations to overcome these challenges.
Currently Matthias is managing a project for decarbonization of cities with special focus on the transport sector.
