Laura O. Robinson is Managing Director at Navigant Economics. Dr. Robinson specializes in the application of financial, economic, valuation, and statistical analyses to complex commercial litigation and corporate strategic decision-making. She has provided expert consulting services and testimony for matters in state court, federal court, bankruptcy court, and tax court. Dr. Robinson is Chair of the Damages Subcommittee of the Criminal Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation. Her engagements include matters regarding breach of contract, securities fraud, mergers and acquisitions, false claims act, antitrust, intellectual property, product liability, environmental contamination, legal fees, and insurance recovery.
Dr. Robinson’s work in the finance and securities area includes matters related to corporate financings, corporate governance, due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, risk assessment, portfolio strategy and analysis, investment suitability, hedge and mutual fund performance and fees, Ponzi schemes, insider trading, and the unwinding of complex financial transactions. She has valued a wide variety of liquid and illiquid financial instruments including warrants, swaps, futures options, leveraged derivatives, and currency options. Dr. Robinson has conducted valuations of all types of businesses, ranging from start-ups to general/limited partnerships to joint ventures to large publicly-traded firms.
Dr. Robinson’s experience spans many industries, including airline, automotive, commercial banking, computer hardware and software, construction, consumer credit, consumer health and beauty products, entertainment, financial services, health care, insurance, Internet, investment banking, legal services, media, mortgage, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, railroad, real estate, and telecommunications. Her work often includes an analysis of economic damages and frequently requires the analysis of large complex proprietary databases.
Previously, Dr. Robinson was Managing Principal of CapAnalysis, the financial and economic consulting division of Howrey, LLP. Prior, Dr. Robinson was Vice President and Senior Economist at Analysis Group/Economics. Dr. Robinson has been on the faculty at several educational institutions teaching courses in corporate finance, financial markets, investments, portfolio theory, and law and economics, to graduate and undergraduate students including the State University of New York, Stony Brook, the New York Institute of Finance, and the University of Southern California.
