Jay Paidipati is a Director in the Emerging Technologies and Business Strategy group of the Energy practice. His work falls into two broad categories. The first category relates to solar PV projects. Recently, Jay provided solar project developers and investors with a range of services along the project development timeline, including pre-feasibility studies, technology screening analysis, site assessments, financial reviews, employment impact assessments, independent monitoring, procurement support, and independent project reviews (e.g., project due diligence). Sample projects include a due diligence of a 28 MW solar PV facility for a lender; independent monitoring of a utilities large scale PV procurement; and, feasibility studies across several sites for a public agency in Southern California.
The second category involves helping public and private entities manage and make decisions regarding emerging energy technologies. In this area, Jay has worked with federal, state, and local governments; trade groups; utilities; manufacturers; and, investors. Service offerings include technology evaluation and screening; cost studies; market penetration analysis; employment impact studies; cost and benefit studies; technology due diligence; and program evaluation. Recent engagements include helping an investor-owned natural gas utility identify and promote energy saving technologies; partnering with the Sacramento Utility District, SunPower, NREL and GridPoint to demonstrate energy storage in a neighborhood with a high penetration of solar PV; and performing an employment impact assessment in the renewable energy industry under several federal policy scenarios.
