William “Bill” Makin is a well-regarded industry expert in legal expense management and eDiscovery consulting, as well as process efficiency, program administration, data analytics. Bill has led cross-industry networking initiatives in consumer-facing and institutional marketplaces. Bill is a strategic thinker, a process advocate, change agent and technology solutions expert who is well-versed with value-added solutions, process improvements, project accountability and multi-industry client relationship building.

Prior to joining Navigant, Bill founded a Financial Services Consulting company where he provided in-depth analysis and guidance to both start-ups and Fortune 20 companies in the legal and compliance subject matter areas. He also worked closely with several AMLaw 50 law firms to improve technology, resource alignment and profitability.

As the Global Director of eDiscovery and eCompliance at Citigroup, Bill was in charge of services for the legal, compliance and human resources functions across 3 major global lines of support – process, collection and compliance/integration. Bill led the efficient roll-out of technology solutions firm-wide and hired, trained and developed qualified staff to achieve departmental missions. He built strong relationships among the multiple stakeholders across the company and he was in charge of budgets, RFPs, invoices and vendor selection globally. Bill worked very closely with outside counsel globally on legal, regulatory and compliance matters.

Bill also worked for Sullivan & Cromwell, where he served in both assisted with the efficient implementation of a firm-wide technology solutions, while simultaneously responsible for hiring, training, and deploying qualified staff to achieve departmental successes.
