Michael Kline, CFA is an associate director at Navigant in the Energy practice. He has more than 15 years of experience advising governments, utilities, and law firms on retail and wholesale electricity markets, environmental policy, asset valuation, and international arbitration.

Michaels’s work has included assessment of the impact of environmental and regulatory proposals on consumers and generators of electricity, valuation of merchant and contracted electric generating assets, evaluation of the adjusted production cost benefits of new transmission, analysis of the economic substance of structured financial transactions, avoided cost estimation, and damages analyses. Michael has worked extensively on modeling electricity systems. He has forecasted electricity and capacity prices and environmental allowance prices throughout the Eastern Interconnect, ERCOT, and WECC. Recent engagements have included providing market analysis for a property appraisal in Michigan, analyzing the impact of different policies on New York City’s carbon footprint, and advising on the purchase of a regulated Western utility.
