Corinna Klessmann (PhD) works as director for Energy Policy at Ecofys, a Navigant Company, in Berlin. She is an expert on renewable energy policy and leads the solution offering “Low Carbon Energy Policy and Implementation”. She has more than 15 years of experience with energy policy consultancy and applied research for governments, businesses and NGOs. Her work focuses on the European Clean Energy Package, the design of support schemes and regulatory frameworks for renewable energy, especially auctions, the financing of renewable energy projects, especially wind and solar, and the facilitation of policy cooperation processes.
Clients include the European Commission, the German, French and Luxembourg government, GIZ, AFD, IRENA and many international corporations, associations and NGOs. Among others, she led two large projects consulting the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy on the design of the German auction schemes for renewable energies.
After completing her energy engineering (MEng) and philology (MA) studies, Corinna worked as project assistant for a solar project developer in South Africa and as research associate for decentralized renewable energy applications at the Technical University of Berlin.
Prior to joining Ecofys in 2006, Corinna worked for three years at the German Energy Agency (dena) where she coordinated the dialogue with the German solar industry, supervised international market studies on renewable energies, and participated in international conferences and workshops in more than 20 countries. Next to her work at Ecofys she obtained a doctorate from Utrecht University on European renewable energy policy (focus on energy economics, energy policy and power market regulation).
