Mark Hyam is an Associate Director in the Global Construction practice. He has more than 35 years’ experience in the construction industry, including holding senior management positions within major contractors and consultancy organisations bringing broad experience to his current role. He plays a key role supporting the preparation of Expert Reports.
Mark has recently assisted in the preparation of quantum reports in relation to disputes as diverse as a large infrastructure project in the UAE, a UK schools project and in the preparation of a report relating to a professional negligence claim against an architect. Most recently he has assisted in two major disputes relating to offshore wind farms.
His work has also included assisting in the preparation of reports in relation to domestic dwellings, commercial and infrastructure projects.
Mark has significant experience in both advising main and specialist contractors on general and site management structures, processes, programming and commercial issues as well as the negotiation of final accounts, claims and adjudication. He has also acted in interim management roles and advised on business strategy.
Mark’s previous professional experience includes regional management roles within the building divisions of major contractors; managing business units with annual turnovers ranging from £30m to £140m within which individual project values ranged from £500k to £95m.
He has first-hand experience and a record of success in standard and special procurement routes, including single and two-stage traditional tendering, PFI and the Government-led Building Schools for the Future programme.
