Julie Howard is the CEO and chairman of the board of directors of Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: NCI). As CEO and chairman, she is responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s long-term strategy and effective prioritization of resource allocation to realize continuing shareholder value.
Prior to becoming CEO in March 2012, Howard served as president beginning in 2006 and chief operating officer beginning in 2003. In these roles, she was responsible for the overall management of the company’s operations, including strategic planning, marketing, sales, human resources, and the delivery of global consulting services.
Howard has 30 years of professional services experience, having served as a consultant as well as holding several corporate management positions. Her tenure with Navigant has been marked by rapid company growth. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin. She continued her education via completion of several Harvard Business School Executive Education programs, with a focus in finance and management.
Howard serves on the board of directors for InnerWorkings and ManpowerGroup, and is a member of the medical center board for Lurie Children’s Hospital. She has formerly served on the board of Kemper Corporation, and on the board of directors for the Association of Management Consulting Firms, the dean’s advisory board of the business school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the board of governors for the Metropolitan Planning Council in Chicago. Howard is a champion of women's leadership development and is a founding member of the Women's Leadership & Mentoring Alliance.
