Jodi Hatherly is an Associate Director within Navigant's Disputes & Investigation practice. She has more than 18 years of insurance claims, litigation support and other economic damage consulting experience. Jodi has worked with clients in manufacturing, energy, mining, healthcare, and hospitality among other industries. Her clients have included national retail chains, numerous steel manufacturers with various types of production facilities, and mid-stream natural gas companies.
Her experience allows her to help clients reach resolutions by providing business interruption, property damage, construction contract, fidelity, and insurable value related services through the quantification of damages and expert reporting in support of litigation.
Selected engagement experiences include:
- Auditor preferred by Fortune 500 closeout retailer. Directed, managed, and prepared alternate loss calculations leading to successful settlements for over 6 years including hurricane losses involving over 100 locations and totaling more than $25 million.
- Auditor preferred by a Fortune 500 steel manufacturer for all claims submitted to carriers as a result of blast furnace, continuous caster, boiler and finishing facility outages. Developed a complex cost accounting model used to roll all variable costs forward from raw materials to molten metal, liquid steel, cast slabs and finished products. Model developed included direct and indirect support departments resulting in the detailed analysis of over 50 separate cost centers, their allocations and cost flows into downstream departments, and calculation of variable costs by finish type. Directed, managed, and prepared alternate loss calculations leading to successful settlements of multi-million dollar losses for over 9 years.
- Directed and managed the review of a product liability claim arising from contaminated raw materials received by the TV tube production facility of a Fortune Global 100 manufacturer. Issues included decontamination, normal vs. extra expenses, and absorbed vs. unabsorbed costs.
- Analyzed and developed a ratable business interruption values system for a Fortune 500 specialty chemical company with over 60 insured locations worldwide. Created a methodology that provided for the consistent reporting of verifiable and repeatable values resulting in a $3 million savings in the first year. Additional calculations included sensitivity analyses for various theoretical scenarios including partial interruptions and varying time periods.
