Edwin Haesen is an associate director at Navigant, where he focuses on energy systems and markets. His experience covers system analyses at the transmission and distribution level, integration studies of renewable sources, and advisory of grid codes and policy instruments. Edwin has worked extensively with TSOs across Europe, as well as public authorities and European sector organizations.
Prior to Navigant, Edwin spent five years at the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) as a grid development senior advisor. In this role, he coordinated with TSO experts, regulators, and stakeholders on the development of the first pan-European harmonized grid connection rules (or network codes) for generation, industrial demand, TSO/DSO interfaces, and HVDC links. Edwin was also project manager for the Ten Year Network Development Plan 2016, coordinating various TSO study teams on scenario development, regional planning studies, and cost-benefit analyses for transmission investments aimed at enhanced market integration and system security. In addition, he spent several years as senior study engineer for grid operations at EANDIS, a distribution system operator in Belgium, on various technical studies, research projects, and business process improvements for smarter system management.
