Kevin Dennis is a Managing Director in Navigant’s Disputes and Investigations practice bringing more than 25 years of experience including a multitude of commercial disputes.  He serves as a damages expert, prepares damages analyses, or critiques damages related to breaches of contract, terminations, intellectual property disputes, product defects, and other general business and commercial matters.

Kevin’s commercial banking background, accounting education, and accounting credentials enable him to support clients and counsel with many types of forensic accounting investigations. As a result of his many years of involvement with the firm’s Global Construction Practice,he also has significant experience with a wide variety of construction matters. His work in the construction industry has a primary focus on the damages and quantum aspects of disputes arising from construction-related events, as well as contract compliance issues on major industrial, infrastructure, commercial, residential, hospitality, and multi-purpose projects.

Kevin’s work for national and international construction clients involves many types of horizontal and vertical projects, including power plants (nuclear, coal and alternative fuel), oil & gas, infrastructure, public works, roadways and bridges, manufacturing and processing facilities, residential and commercial developments, and more.

Clients turn to Kevin for in-depth analyses, his ability to quickly identify critical junctures and his testimony experience in litigation and arbitration.

Selected engagement experiences include leading teams:

  • Assisting the owner of a proposed nuclear power plant related to its termination of an EPC Agreement during the project's design phase and the engineer’s claim for $500 million in alleged termination costs.
  • Investigating and analyzing construction costs submitted by the Contractor under its Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) Contract, as well as the “soft” costs related to the development of a $400 million, 54-story luxury hotel and condominium project.
  • Developing a product defect claim for damages incurred by a Latin American producer of organic produce. The damages included the lost revenues from tainted product, disposal costs and lost profits.
  • Analyzing and rebutting the lost profits claimed by a licensee and distributor of residential and commercial door products manufactured and sold in UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman.
  • Analyzing and rebutting an Owner’s $120 million claim for damages related to the collapse of a bridge pier and allegations of faulty design of a segmental bridge and roadway project. After settlement of the initial dispute, the Owner then engaged Kevin to analyze a claim from the Owner’s Contractor for additional compensation due to delays, disruption, unapproved changes, and other impacts to the project.
  • Analyzing a $150 million claim by the public owner of a 15.5 billion gallon, earthen-embankment water reservoir due to unusual cracking in the soil-cement lining of the facility.
  • Identifying and determining damages associated with the alleged improper termination of a Manufacturer’s Representative Agreement for medical supplies and equipment.
