Jeroen de Beer is an associate director in the Energy practice, providing more than 25 years of consulting experience where he advises public and private clients on sustainable energy solutions. Jeroen is responsible for developing and providing solutions for the energy intensive manufacturing industry, particularly in the steel, cement and chemicals sector, industry associations and governments. Additionally, he advises on developing corporate climate change strategy, market entry studies for sustainable technologies, policy evaluation and design, carbon cost forecasts under emission trading, scenario building and roadmapping.
Jeroen brings deep technology knowledge and a broad overview of climate change and energy policies, combined with a good eye for the strategic process. With this combination of skills and expertise he helps clients to take steps in strengthen their position and take actions in the often complex organizational and political process. For example, he supported the European cement industry to strengthen its position on using waste as a fuel in the debate with the European Commission. He also supported industry associations with fact-based, transparent analyses of the possible impact of carbon emission trading on the competitive position of their members, which opened doors and gave an impulse to the discussions. A last example is the support for a multinational steel company to develop their internal climate strategy by providing technical expertise and strategic thinking.
Jeroen has held several positions at Ecofys/Navigant. He led the service line Energy Management for several years, and contributed to the talent management program. He has a PhD in chemistry on a topic related to energy science and is author of a number of well-cited articles.
