John Collier is a Director in the Disputes and Investigations practice. He has more than 20 years of corporate accounting, fraud and forensic accounting experience and has provided expert witness testimony in Federal and State Courts and before the American Arbitration Association in matters pertaining to lost profits, fraud, legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty.
In addition to his testimony experience, John has authored and/or assisted in the preparation of expert reports concerning False Claims Act violations, accounting malpractice, lost profits, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and valuations of closely held businesses. He holds the designations of Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Financial Forensics and Certified Valuation Analyst.
John has provided expert witness and consulting services in areas including: manufacturing, telecommunication, cable television, software sales, chemical production, medical services, marine shipbuilding, offshore fabrication, private secondary education, bankruptcy, legal malpractice damages, retail grocery, investment management, scrap materials sales and hospitality. These services include the calculation of lost profits, quantification of fraudulent conveyances, evaluation of fiduciary actions, decertification of class actions, analysis of alleged preferential payments, evaluation of accountants’ actions and the valuation of closely held businesses. John also assists attorneys and their clients in preparation for discovery, deposition and trial.
Prior to joining Navigant, John was a Shareholder in the Business Consulting Services Division of a boutique accounting firm in New Orleans, specializing in commercial litigation and the valuation of closely held businesses.
