Sharon Carter is a director in the Healthcare Real Estate practice. She is responsible for increasing market share at a national level. Through her thought leadership and active participation, she provides real estate solutions in the form of speed to market approaches, project management in the development of new and/or improved facilities, management controls stimulating operational efficiencies, and innovation in new facility development and the repurpose of existing real estate and the disposition of assets.
Prior to joining Navigant, Carter worked with a national real estate investment trust (REIT) and served as vice-president of healthcare strategy & development beginning in 2015, and executive director in 2010. In these roles, she provided the overall management of healthcare strategy, and business development/lead generation. Her thought leadership implemented initiatives to align the use of equity capital with speed to market solutions, adaptability, low cost and best-in-class patient-centered healthcare assets.
Carter also brings a 20-year tenure from Northwestern Medicine, a large academic medical center and medical group practice of 3,500 physicians in Chicago. Her tenure included the administrative and fiscal management of capital projects varying in size and scope, delivery of training programs tailored toward customer service, and the establishment of the ideal patient experience.
Carter has held a chairwoman positions of diversity & inclusion councils, as in an active mentor to graduate students in the real estate program at Roosevelt University leading a program to usher a diverse slate of candidates to the real estate industry. She serves on the executive leadership team for the American Heart Association - Go Red Go STEM, supporting 80 Chicago high school girl’s interests in science, technology, engineering and math fields.
