Andrew Caldwell is a managing director in the Global Disputes and Economics practice, based in London. He is one of the U.K.’s most experienced valuation specialists, with more than 30 years involvement in valuing companies, shares and intellectual property. Andrew has been instructed as an expert in many cases, both in respect of valuation, and the quantum of damages, or loss of profits, arising from breach of warranty or contract claims, post - acquisition and cross-border disputes, or the infringement of intellectual property rights.
Andrew's role in worldwide litigation; including the UK, US, Canada, Singapore and Cayman Courts; as well as international arbitration under the rules of the major institutions of arbitration: together with Investor – State disputes arising from Bilateral Investment Treaties, and other arbitral processes; has resulted in him giving oral testimony, and being extensively cross-examined, on numerous occasions.
He has been appointed as an independent expert by the UK High Court several times, as well as by the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
Andrew's expertise covers all business sectors and industries, with significant experience in banking and financial services valuation. In 2008, he was appointed by HM Treasury to be the Independent Valuer for the Northern Rock Compensation Scheme, following the collapse of the Bank, and he has subsequently been involved in other substantial commercial banking disputes, including those involving governments.
Joint venture and shareholder disputes, particularly those involving Russian and CIS companies and clients, are another main focus of Andrew's work.
