In a recent study, Navigant described possible interactions between the energy transition and the growth of the German industrial sector. Together with the Research Centre for Energy Economics (FfE), Navigant analyzed industrial transformation pathways from seven energy and climate policy scenarios. The energy experts derived conclusions on the future industrial development in Germany until 2050, for example with regards to greenhouse gas emissions, final energy consumption, and energy and material efficiency.
The study is part of the project "Energy Transition in the Industry" by the Federal German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). Navigant is leading the consortium which supports the ministry in researching scientifically sound data for the further design of political instruments to shape the energy transition in the industry.
The consortium is developing industry-specific technology transformation pathways which aim to strengthen climate protection in industry and the competitiveness of the German economy in 2050.
