Navigant supports municipal exchange on local climate action
The cities of Agios Dimitrios and Bottrop have launched the first Greek-German municipal climate partnership. The partnership is facilitated by the project Bridging European and Local Climate Action (BEACON), financed by the German Ministry for the Environment as part of its European Climate Initiative (EUKI). Navigant is leading the three-year project together with a consortium of ten international partners.
Exchanging good practices in local climate action, representatives of Bottrop and Agios Dimitrios held their first meeting at the end of November in Agios Dimitrios, Greece. Participants learned more about the main climate challenges, goals, and initiatives of the partner city, and adopted a preliminary work program to be implemented over the next two years.
Five more bilateral meetings are foreseen as part of the climate partnership, alongside participation in several BEACON-organized regional workshops and conferences. BEACON is a project promoting climate action and facilitating an exchange between national governments as well as municipalities and schools in Europe. The aim of the project is to strengthen bi- and multilateral cooperation and create common ambition to realize the Paris Agreement.
