Navigant’s Matthew M. Blizard, Celia Y. David & Kenneth C. Lotterhos recently published an article for Intelligent Utilitly on how the energy cloud is helping to mitigate cybersecurity risk.
Cyber-attacks on the United States’ infrastructure, especially on energy systems, will only increase in frequency and potential impact, and may become the tool of choice for causing disruption, sabotage, and/or terrorism in the United States. Going forward, the energy cloud will be probed and tested for weaknesses, just like the current energy infrastructure. Executives, planners, and policy makers must make assumptions that networks will be compromised and consider how to best address these persistent threats.
