The 2018 Global Power & Energy Blockchain Conference was the world’s first event focused on the use of blockchain technology in the power and energy industries. The conference assisted utilities, policy makers, regulators, smart cities, and service providers interested in learning about blockchain and its applications. Attendees received an introduction to the application as well as information on the future of the use of blockchain in our industry. Blockchain capabilities, including cryptocurrency, smart contracts, distributed databases, and public ledgers were also discussed.
During the event, Jan Vrins, managing director and leader of Navigant's global Energy practice, presented on Navigating the Energy Transformation: How Blockchain Will Accelerate The Energy Transformation and The Emerging Energy Cloud.
Mackinnon Lawrence, senior research director at Navigant Research, and Richard Shandross, associate director at Navigant, also participated in panel discussions on Blockchain in Utilities: Use Cases from Leaders & Visionaries. Toni Baird, director at Navigant, was also in attendance.
