Hidden Dangers in the Early Stages of an Internal Investigation
Friday, February 12 9:40 - 10:40 a.m.
Conference panels often cover the entire (often completed) internal investigation process and after-the-fact assessments without delving too deep into any one area. This panel session will highlight the early stages of an internal investigation, which are often a critical time for organizations, and how to develop and maintain a good rapport with federal regulators. Seasoned speakers will address key questions that are often raised at the onset of an investigation, such as when to call outside counsel, how to sort the types of allegations, and whether to self-report. They will discuss the hidden, subtle and often under-appreciated dangers and the ethical and legal implications of management decisions.
