Mr. Stearns is a Director with Navigant's healthcare team and specializes in providing financial, economic, investigative, clinical, operational, and industry expertise assistance to health sciences providers, payers, physicians and the health law community. Mr. Stearns has over 20 years of progressive management experience in acute and post acute care. He is well versed in Medicare reimbursement, fraud and abuse issues, and ancillary operations. As a Vice President of Clinical Services, he oversaw the clinical aspects of the multi-state home health subsidiary for a national long term care company. In the course of his work experience, he has developed complex financial models and analyzed large volumes of coding, billing, and reimbursement data in a wide variety of industry areas including direct patient care providers, DME suppliers, and other service providers. He has also led Independent Review Organization engagements involving large scale medical records sampling and review for patient care providers and a third party billing company. As a licensed physical therapist, John has practical work experience in the acute hospital setting including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, brain injury rehabilitation, and intensive care.
