Jim is a Managing Director in the Healthcare practice and leads the Physician Practice Management business unit. He has over 20 years of experience in both hospital and physician practice management. He specializes in developing effective and efficient governance strategies, vision development, strategic planning and budgeting, physician compensation optimization, and deployment of successful hospital-physician partnership relationships.
He has facilitated a number of physician-hospital integrations, including; direct employment, professional service agreements, asset sale transactions, co-management structures, and decision-making matrices. He has assisted health systems and physician groups alike in designing physician compensation plans that focus on the alignment of incentives, as well as achieving common measurable objectives. He specializes in developing co-management models that facilitate enterprise-wide decision-making structures, a sense of inclusion by the various constituencies of the services line, and a connection between the strategy function of governance and the implementation function of management. He has also engaged clients in developing a “physician compact” - a cultural contract established among the physicians in a practice.
