As Associate Director for Navigant's Healthcare practice with responsibility for clinical development and operations in ambulatory surgery centers, Carolyn Axley has developed and managed the clinical operations of the ASC division since August 1999. With over 25 years experience in ambulatory surgery, Ms. Axley’s responsibilities include: selecting and training administrators; staff development; risk management and human resources; obtaining state licensure; preparing for and maintaining AAAHC accreditation and CMS certification; HIPPA and OIG compliance; and serving as an invaluable resource for individual center management personnel. She developed and is responsible for the Quality Assurance and Professional Improvement program including instituting “best practices” and benchmarking, infection control and patient saf! ety. Ms. Axley negotiates ancillary professional service contracts and facilitates governing board structure.
She has served in clinical, development and managerial roles for various companies including ASC development and management for Medical Care International, Acumen Healthcare, EthosPartners Healthcare and as vice president of Sullins Surgery Center, Inc. in Knoxville, Tennessee, one of the first ten ambulatory surgery centers in the country.
