In our newest edition of the Real Estate Quarterly Dialogue, Edward Casas and Darin Buchalter discuss “Economic and Employment Stagnation Chills Markets.” While the economy during the second quarter of 2012 did post positive growth, the rate was well below initial estimates and many are concerned that the recent gains are weakening. This uncertainty, coupled with worldwide and domestic volatility has weakened consumer confidence and stagnated the recovery of many real estate asset classes. Despite the overall apprehension and conservative investment stance, there are specific domestic markets that have outperformed the national averages.
