What types of cookies does Navigant use and why?
Navigant uses different cookies for various reasons:
- Session cookies - these are temporary cookies that expire (and are automatically erased) whenever you close your browser. Navigant uses session cookies to enhance site navigation and site search functionality.
- Persistent cookies - these have an extended expiration date and stay in your web browser until they expire or until you manually delete them. Navigant uses persistent cookies to better understand usage patterns in order to improve the site for our visitors. This information is anonymous - when Navigant reviews the data for patterns in website behavior the firm does not see an individuals' personally identified information (PII).
There are also limited third-party cookies on the site. These cookies could be session or persistent and are set by entities other than Navigant. Navigant currently allows:
- Audience measurement and validation - Navigant uses services such as Google Analytics to understand how many people come to the website and what content is most popular. Personally identifiable information (PII) is not stored and site usage is always looked at on an aggregate and anonymous level. - YouTube cookies – Navigant embeds videos from our official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/navigantinsight) using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. This mode may set cookies on your computer once you click on the YouTube video player, but YouTube will not store personally identifiable information for playbacks of embedded videos using the privacy-enhanced mode. You can browse Navigant.com with cookies disabled, though some features may be unavailable.
Why does the cookie message reappear when I visit www.navigant.com?
If you close the cookie banner and it reappears the next time you visit, you most likely have cookies disabled. When cookies are enabled, Navigant applies a persistent cookie to remember that the banner was previously closed.
